INDONESIA calls for a ceasefire and enforcement of international law against the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine. Indonesia also emphasized the importance of continued support for recovery in Gaza.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, at the BRICS Summit forum which was held in Kazan, Russia, Thursday (24/10) local time. Foreign Minister Sugiono conveyed President Prabowo Subianto’s message about anti-colonialism and anti-oppression. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also underlined the ongoing crises in Palestine and Lebanon.

Indonesia emphasizes solidarity and commitment to peace. Sugiono emphasized that Indonesia will not remain silent regarding the continuing violence in the Middle East. “Indonesia cannot remain silent while these atrocities continue without anyone being held accountable,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono in a press release received by Indonesian MediaFriday (26/10).

The war taking place in Gaza has now spread to Lebanon and even involved Iran. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Middle East was on the verge of a major war. Putin said the war in the Middle East would not end until Palestine received recognition as a sovereign state.

“The level of confrontation between Israel and Iran has increased sharply. All this resembles a chain reaction and puts the entire Middle East on the verge of a full-scale war,” Putin said at the forum. (M-1)
