Foreclosure controversy; Dalit family to take charge: Mathew Kuzhalnadan | Muvattupuzha bank Attachment

Muvattupuzha: Urban Co-operative Bank MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan has said that he will take over the debt of the Dalit family whose house was confiscated. The basis of the house will be repaid by paying the money in the bank. He also said that help would be provided for the treatment of the householder who is in hospital.

The MLA said the house was demolished and the children were allowed back into the house following seeing the helplessness of the minor girls whose house was confiscated and evicted while their parents were being treated at the hospital. Politics was not involved in the incident. I do not want to do that.

As soon as he came to know regarding the incident, Gopi, the chairman of the bank, tried to contact Kottamurugal. The MLA said that the girls had done their duty as representatives of the people while staying in the yard of the house at night and would face any action in this regard.

The bank confiscated Ajesh’s house at Valiyaparambil in Payipra Pezhakappilly. Ajesh is undergoing treatment at Ernakulam General Hospital.

Debt recovery measures should be implemented with humane pollination. That did not happen in the case of this family. Those who came from the bunk, including the neighbors, were told that their parents were being treated at the hospital and that they should be delayed. But all this was ignored by the officials who came for the confiscation proceedings, said Mathew Kuzhalnadan.

Confiscation controversy for political gain: Gopi Kottamurikkal

Muvattupuzha ബാങ്ക് Muvattupuzha Urban Bank Chairman Gopi Kottamurikkal said that the allegations and allegations related to the confiscation of a Dalit family in Pezhakappilly were made for political gain. The action was taken following a court order. The action was not unexpected for the family. But when he found out that Grihanathan was in the hospital, he instructed the officials to return the keys. The bank employee arrived at the spot with the keys but was returning fearing mob violence. Gopi Kottamurikkal said the keys were later handed over to the police station. He alleged that the MLA was demolishing the house and creating trouble for political gain.

It has been 2 years since the loan repayment process started. In 2017, Ajesh took a loan to buy a camera. I was warned several times following the refund failed. A symbolic confiscation was also made on February 24. There are no people whenever you go there. Neighbors were told things and convinced. But then no one came to help them. It is not correct to say that the children were expelled, they came last. If the landlord had informed him that he was in the hospital, the confiscation would have been avoided for the time being.

MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan and the leaders who were with him are people he knows personally. None of them called and spoke. Gopi Kottamurikkal said that the only problem was that they would call and inform but an attempt was made to take the problems to another level.

Banks armed with surfing law

Muvattupuzha തോടെ Figures received in the Assembly show that poor families are being evicted as banks begin to strictly enforce the Surfasy Act to recover non-performing assets. The actions of the co-operative banks were made clear in the answers to the questions asked by Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA in the Assembly following the death of the pineapple farmer.

It is estimated that from March 2018 to March 17, 5266 properties were subjected to foreclosure proceedings under the Surfasy Act. During this period 68357 foreclosure notices were sent to the borrowers by various co-operative banks in the state. Banks have expedited the process of recovering loans despite the recommendation of a committee appointed to study the situation in the state due to the provisions of the Act to require the Central Government to exempt co-operative banks from the purview of the Surfasy Act.

The committee had also recommended that the law be amended to replace loans above Rs 1 lakh and only loans above Rs 10 lakh.
