Forecasts rainy and windy Sunday in Southern and Eastern Norway

– The strongest showers are already moving in, but we expect them to have the strongest impact on both Southern and Eastern Norway, says meteorologist Bente Wahl to NTB on Saturday followingnoon.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has sent out a warning regarding torrential rain that extends from the very south of Rogaland, along the coast all the way to the Swedish border. The strongest showers are expected in parts of Agder, Telemark, Buskerud and Akershus.

– The danger warning applies for tonight, and the rain will move north quite quickly towards Trøndelag tomorrow. It is a low pressure that will later move on towards Nordland and central parts of Sweden.

Wahl says localized flooding and thunderstorms are also possible.

When the downpour has passed, there is little sign of a summery end to the weekend. Residents and holidaymakers in the archipelago in Vestfold and Østfold must brace themselves for strong winds.

– Now there are many people out in small boats in Østfold, for example, and these will feel the wind well, all the way to the Swedish border. We expect strong gusts of wind along the entire coast from stiff to strong gales, says Wahl.

It is expected that there may be wind gusts of up to 25 meters per second in the southern parts of Østfold.

– We recommend everyone to take some precautions, such as securing loose objects and taking other measures to limit damage, writes Øst 110 central on X.

The windiest period of the day is expected during early tomorrow morning and followingnoon, before decreasing in the evening.
