Weather on Friday: Showers and thunderstorms are spreading

Thu 06/15/2023 | 8:28 a.m. – Martin Puchegger – Source: wetter.com with dpa

On Friday, June 16th, 2023 showers and thunderstorms will become more frequent in the entire eastern half. Already on Thursday some clouds and some rain are on the way. The temperatures are going up.

On Friday there is a risk of showers and thunderstorms in the entire eastern half. Before that, on Thursday, a high altitude low over Poland is slowly approaching. This means that it is only moderately warm between the Baltic Sea and the Ore Mountains and in large parts of Bavaria, at 20 to 25 degrees, while to the west there are mostly summer highs of 26 to 28 degrees.

In addition, there are already some cloud fields in the eastern half on Thursday and a few rain showers are forming during the day, and thunderstorms from the Oder via the Lusatia to the Ore Mountains. A short shower is also possible in the Black Forest. The further west, the more often the sun shines, however, there are only a few cumulus clouds.

The weather report for Germany on Friday, June 16th, 2023

On Friday, June 16th, 2023, the showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous in the entire eastern half. From the Baltic Sea via eastern Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt to the south to the Vogtland, it will remain cloudy for longer and rain will fall repeatedly.

A fairly friendly and, apart from a few cumulus clouds, mostly sunny day awaits us from the North Sea via NRW to Breisgau. Especially where it rains longer, it stays cool and the temperatures in the north and east only manage to reach 19 to 23 degrees, while in Saarland we get up to 29 degrees.

Weather in Germany: This is how it will continue from Saturday

On Saturday, June 17th, 2023, the showers and thunderstorms will retreat to the northeast, but they are still possible in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Leipzig, for example. However, it will remain dry in most of Germany and it will be really sunny once more, especially from the Lower Rhine to Saarland. The temperatures already reach up to 31 degrees, even in Easter it gets a little warmer.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023, there will only be showers and thunderstorms in the direction of the Oder and in the greater Berlin area. Otherwise it will be sunny with a few clouds and generally warm like summer, with mostly 25 to 32 degrees.

Next week it will be thundery and hot and humid across the country from Monday to Tuesday, starting from the south-west. Then there is a risk of storms!

You can see what the weather will be like in the next 7 days here:

At the weekend we can look forward to some of the most beautiful bathing weather. There are already showers and thunderstorms in the region. But these only become more violent in the new week in the muggy hot air that reaches us. We then reach the 30 degrees on several days. Our meteorologist Martin Puchegger has more regarding the weather in the coming week in the 7-day weather forecast “Deutschland TREND”.

That usually happens in Germany

The situation in the forest fire areas in south-west Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is improving. However, it is still unclear whether the disaster alert for a former military training area can be lifted.

The emergency services have largely brought the two forest fires that broke out near Lübtheen and Hagenow on Monday under control. On Thursday morning (8:00 a.m.) a decision will be made as to whether the disaster alarm for the former military training area near Lübtheen will be lifted. This was announced by a spokesman for the Ludwigslust-Parchim district on Wednesday evening. The forest area in the Viezer Heide near Hagenow has already been handed over to the local military commander for further firefighting.

It will probably take a while until the two large forest fires on the former military training area near Lübtheen and in the Viezer Heide near Hagenow have completely subsided. The situation currently appears to be under control. However, because it is not possible to extinguish the fire directly in the munitions-contaminated areas, you should wait until all the fires have burned out by themselves. It is unclear how long this will take. Until then, the forest must be monitored further.

There is more regarding this in the drought ticker.
