As a reminder, Ford and Volkswagen have indeed joined forces on a certain number of projects, notably utility vehicles and their “civilian” versions. So the VW Amarok is actually a Ranger, and the next Transporter will be a Ford Transit. As for the Ford Tourneo, it’s actually a re-dressed VW Caddy. But Ford differentiates itself a little more here by being the first to offer its MPV in a plug-in hybrid version. Or rather its MPVs, since both the classic version and the long 7-seater version are concerned.
110 km
The press release is a little stingy with technical details, and we do not know, for example, what the capacity of the on-board battery is. However, we know that Ford is aiming for up to 110 km of electric range, that standard charging is limited to 11 kW of power, and that fast charging does not go beyond 50 kW. Other figures: the hybrid system is based on a 1.5 liter petrol engine, the cumulative power being 150 hp. Order books will be opened during the summer, for first deliveries in the last quarter of 2024. Prices are not yet known.
