Ford recalls 100,000 hybrid vehicles due to fire hazard

Ford is recalling 100,000 hybrid-powered cars in the United States because of the risk of fire. The recall affects 2020-2022 Ford Escape, Maverick and Lincoln Corsair vehicles, the US automaker said on Friday. In the event of engine failure, significant amounts of engine oil and fuel vapors might be released. These might collect near ignition sources and lead to a possible under-hood fire.

So far there have been no accidents or injuries. The second-largest US automaker is also expanding a May recall by 27,000 vehicles following five more fires were reported. The Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2021 are affected. One person was injured in connection with the technical defect. Even before the new announcement, Ford was at the top of all US car manufacturers with 44 recall campaigns for 6.7 million vehicles this year.
