The car Lincoln (Ford luxury brand) Nautilus might be the first vehicle to launch with the new Apple CarPlay. At least, that’s what it looks like from the images released by the company itself showing the interior of the car. In this sense, it is possible to see a multimedia center that is very reminiscent of what was presented by the apple at the WWDC of 2022.
At the time, the Cupertino giant claimed that the equipment would be available from this year on cars. Now, the Nautilus has as one of its highlights a “reimagined digital experience”, with a screen that extends over much of the interior of the car, in addition to the multimedia center in the center.
This look closely resembles what Apple introduced in June of last year. On that subject, a spokesperson for Ford came to define this similarity as “strange”, but did not comment further on the matter. Likewise, Apple has not confirmed whether it really is the same device.
Anyway, this huge screen promises to offer the most varied solutions to the driver, in addition to being full of special lighting features. Functions such as massage seats are also within the driver’s reach, as well as the possibility to choose selected digital scents.
In any case, the company’s current plans seem to focus on producing proprietary chips. Doug Field is currently in charge and spoke regarding the company’s ideas:
a high-performance centralized computing, where we control the software and which brings infotainment – and our autonomy software too – in two internally controlled modules, both for the physical design and for the software.
