Ford issues five recalls, nearly 90,000 vehicles affected in Canada

Ford has just issued a series of recalls affecting several hundred thousand vehicles in North America, including nearly 90,000 in Canada.

Let’s start with the most serious issue, which affects 35,398 2013-2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans (excluding their hybrid versions).

The manufacturer estimates that approximately 2% of them are at risk of breaking their brake lines and losing brake fluid, which would compromise the effectiveness of their braking system and increase stopping distances, therefore the chances of having an accident.

A dealer inspection will be required on the recalled cars. As a precaution, Ford will replace the front brake lines on all of them.

The largest recall in terms of units targets only the 2021 Ford F-150. We are talking regarding 51,336 pickup trucks across the country. Here are wiper arms that may not have been manufactured correctly and therefore do not clean the windshield properly.

Given the reduced visibility which might lead to an accident, Ford will have to replace the wiper arms.

Three other recalls have been issued by the manufacturer in the past few days and target two popular models, although the number of units recalled is minimal.

So 465 Maverick pickup trucks equipped with the tow package lack the electrical circuit that controls the trailer taillights (dealers will need to add one to the wiring harness), with 118 2021-2022 Broncos having already received an update. A software update for a faulty backup camera will need to receive a new one via remote transmission, and then three 2023 Bronco Wildtraks may have their steering lock up unexpectedly while driving.

In the latter case, Ford will contact owners to tell them to stop driving their vehicle and have it towed to a dealer to replace the steering box.
