New vehicle quality is measured by the number of problems per 100 new vehicle (PP100) in the first 1 to 6 months of ownership, with the lower the PP100 score, the higher the quality of the model. The industry average score in 2022 was 130 PP100 from 147 PP100 in 2021, with the majority of issues found to be design problems (71 PP100) rather than manufacturing errors (55 PP100).
“External noise problems Driving experience and car interior There are still reports that keep coming in. At Nielsen IQ, said, “Customers mention wind noise problems. vibration from the road and noise inside the car create an unsatisfactory experience during driving Which car manufacturers should take into account those problems in the design and production process even more. This is because the fewer these problems are encountered by customers, the more drivers will recommend and tell their family and friends.
The top 3 problems were excessive wind noise (10.0 PP100), weak radio waves (5.8 PP100), and slow cooling air conditioners (5.7 PP100), reported last year. Minor design issues were found that were quickly fixed. This has led to fewer problems with insufficient power outlets and USB charging ports (2.6 PP100, down from 5.5 PP100) and static floor mats (1.6 PP100, down from 3.4 PP100).
Additional key facts from the 2022 survey:
