Ford announced Monday that it will partner with Texas-based utility TXU Energy to offer a home electric vehicle charging service to consumers.
The project is intended to enable users of the American car manufacturer’s SUVs and pickups to benefit from particularly low charging costs during off-peak hours, between 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. the following day.
The offer comes as Ford tries to bolster sales of the Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E in Texas, the third-largest market for electric vehicles in the United States.
