In the meantime, the motorist had to reconnect with a gasoline-powered vehicle.
“It can cost me up to $50 a day in gas. I had bought an electric vehicle to avoid paying for gas… It’s money that I hadn’t included in my budget!”, explained the Sherbrooke resident.
The dealer can’t get a replacement part for at least two months. And, as it is always possible to recharge the vehicle on a standard terminal, the garage does not provide any compensation despite the guarantee.
Having bought his vehicle last July, Mr. Lussier deplored the fact that, according to him, Hyundai Sherbrooke had done nothing to help him relieve the additional costs caused by his inconvenience.
Joined by TVA Nouvelles on Tuesday, Huyndai Sherbrooke however claimed to have offered a 100% electric courtesy vehicle to its client, an assertion refuted by Mr. Lussier.
For its part, the Association for the protection of motorists considers that the replacement time must be reasonable.
“They can take the time they want, but there must be monetary compensation for gasoline. He bought his vehicle to save fuel!” said director George Iny.
