Forbach lacks doctors despite the inauguration of a nursing home

It is in these brand new premises and these well-equipped offices that Forbach residents have been able to consult three general practitioners, three nurses and two dentists for almost a year. This health center, carried by Filieris, a health group from the mining regime, was officially inaugurated this Friday, in the presence of the mayor of Forbach Alexandre Cassaro. “We must use this structure as a showcase to attract young doctors” hopes the mayor of the town. Because this nursing home has many advantages for doctors, “We have working hours, a secretariat, so we can really focus on people’s health, our job“, explains Florian Bloch, one of the general practitioners. Another advantage: the doctors meet every month to discuss patients together, an inter-medical collaboration that is increasingly appreciated.

surprise guests

During this inauguration, the CGT made a surprise appearance. The union denounces the lack of doctors in Forbach. For Guillaume Bruno, the head of the CGT des mines de Lorraine, does not hide his annoyance: “It’s all very well the speeches but there is a reality: we have closed too many doctors’ offices in Forbach. We also lack specialist doctors, the waiting times for an appointment are too long.” A lack that some Forbachois health professionals also denounce.
