Heel pain is one of the most common conditions for many people, which is caused by various causes and factors.

In the following lines, the “Consulto” reviews the causes of heel pain in women, according to the “Health line” website.

1- bursitis

When the bursa — the fluid-filled sac in the heel area responsible for the movement of the joints and muscles of the foot — becomes inflamed, the affected person may experience heel pain, especially when standing on the toes.

Heel bursitis is caused by overuse of the ankle, when doing certain activities such as walking or running.

2- fracture

The heel of the foot can be exposed to many different forms of injuries, especially fracture, as a result of suffering from osteoporosis, or constant stress due to strenuous exercise.

3- Plantar fasciitis

The plantar fascia is a ligament that extends from the heel bone all the way to the other side of the foot. When it becomes inflamed as a result of a rupture of the plantar fascia fibers, the affected person experiences pain, especially following taking long periods of rest.

4- Ankle tunnel syndrome

Heel pain is one of the most common causes of foot pain in women, and it occurs as a result of suffering from certain conditions such as sprained feet, or neuropathy.

Among the most prominent symptoms associated with ankle tunnel syndrome, the feeling of pain in the heel of the foot, with a feeling of numbness in the same area.

5- Heel spurs

It is a bony prominence in the heel area, a condition that occurs as a result of the exposure of certain areas of the heel to continuous stress for long periods, especially the plantar fascia.

6- Achilles tendon injury

Injury to the Achilles tendon occurs as a result of suffering from inflammatory diseases such as gout, or excessive use of the tendon, resulting from certain activities such as jumping, or due to wearing improper types of shoes.
