For Time Magazine, the best game of the year 2022 is…

The very serious American magazine has just delivered its verdict, announcing its Top 10 of the best games of the year 2022.

The fight must have been bitter within the editorial staff of the New York magazine. The reference when it comes to electing the personality of the year takes with as much seriousness the presentation of the “GOTY”, or the best game of 2022. In a year marked by a slower pace of releases, especially at Due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has delayed many projects, there are some surprises at the bottom of the ranking, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge in tenth place, or LEGO Star Wars : The Skywalker Saga in the ninth. The latest expansion of Resident Evil Village earns an eighth place – surprising for a DLC.

An unexpected disappointment

The French studio Slo Clap will be delighted to have won seventh place with their martial arts game Sifu, one of the good surprises of the year. Ahead of them, in sixth place only, the remaster of The Last Of Usand more surprisingly, Stray, the game slipping the player into the skin of a cat. But it is certainly the fourth place that will make people cringe, attributed to the critical and commercial success ofElder Ring. Considered by many as the game of the year, this amazing ranking in more ways than one has not finished reacting on social networks.

The surprise guest

There is another surprise in the Top 3, with The Quarry, excellent horror game, but perhaps not as strong as the latest production from From Software. Finally, the silver medal goes to the other big PlayStation production of the year, Horizon : Forbidden West. At this stage, no more suspense: it is indeed God Of War Ragnarök who claims the ultimate title, a consecration for this ogre who reigns over current sales, only outstripped by the recent Pokemon Scarlet and Purple. A prize that rewards, beyond his flawless technique, a story and characters much more touching than expected.
