Australian influencer Allanah Harris, also known as Allanah Alison, is accused of drugging her 1-year-old daughter Daisy, resulting in a months-long hospital stay and two unnecessary brain surgeries. As The Express Tribune reportsHarris is said to have intentionally caused the symptoms by administering benzodiazepines. The TikToker and her husband had gained over a million followers in the past few months by documenting their family life with their supposedly sick daughter.
During Daisy’s lengthy medical ordeal, the Harris family asked their followers for financial support and raised a significant amount through a GoFundMe campaign.
Hospital staff discovered discrepancies
The allegations came to light after nurses became aware of the social media posts. Their concerns led to further investigation, which ultimately determined that the symptoms were related to elevated levels of benzodiazepines in the child’s body. The youth welfare office then intervened and Daisy and the couple’s other three children were removed from their care. The family’s TikTok account has since been deleted. The Tribune report describes the toddler’s health as good. Daisy is “awake, sitting up, eating and behaving like a normal one-year-old child,” a person in charge is quoted as saying.
Daisy’s father distanced himself from the actions: “I had no idea what Allanah was doing to our child. I insisted on these operations because I thought they were necessary,” wrote Brock Harris on Snapchat. He emphasized that he knew nothing about the drugs. He told his wife: “Allanah, you are an absolute monster.”

How can social media influence parental behavior and decision-making regarding their children’s health?
**Interview with Child Welfare Expert, Dr. Sarah Thompson**
**Moderator:** Welcome, Dr. Thompson. Today, we’re discussing a very disturbing case involving Australian influencer Allanah Harris, who is accused of drugging her one-year-old daughter, Daisy, leading to unnecessary surgeries and a prolonged hospital stay. Can you share your thoughts on this situation?
**Dr. Thompson:** Thank you for having me. This case is troubling on many levels. It’s incredibly alarming to hear about parents potentially endangering their children for social media attention. The allegations that Harris administered benzodiazepines to her daughter to create a narrative for their followers are particularly concerning.
**Moderator:** Indeed, it seems that Harris and her husband gained significant attention and financial support through their claims about Daisy’s health. How do you see the role of social media influencing such behavior?
**Dr. Thompson:** Social media undoubtedly has a powerful impact on behavior and perception. In cases like this, it can create a dangerous environment where parents may feel pressured to present a certain narrative, even if it’s harmful. The desire for validation and support online can lead some individuals to make catastrophic decisions, as seen in this case where they raised over €53,000 on GoFundMe from followers who thought they were helping a sick child [[1](https://www.midilibre.fr/2024/11/21/une-influenceuse-accusee-davoir-drogue-sa-fille-pour-attirer-lattention-de-ses-abonnes-apres-lui-avoir-fait-subir-des-operations-au-cerveau-12338378.php)].
**Moderator:** Hospital staff played a key role in uncovering the alleged abuse when they noticed discrepancies between Daisy’s condition and the claims made on social media. How important is it for healthcare professionals to be vigilant in these situations?
**Dr. Thompson:** Very important. Healthcare professionals are often on the front lines and must be trained to recognize signs of potential abuse or manipulation. The fact that nurses raised concerns based on social media discrepancies highlights the need for open communication and collaboration between medical staff and child welfare agencies. Their intervention was crucial and likely played a significant role in protecting the child [[1](https://www.midilibre.fr/2024/11/21/une-influenceuse-accusee-davoir-drogue-sa-fille-pour-attirer-lattention-de-ses-abonnes-apres-lui-avoir-fait-subir-des-operations-au-cerveau-12338378.php)].
**Moderator:** Daisy’s father, Brock Harris, has distanced himself from the actions of Allanah, claiming he was unaware of the drugging or the operations. How does this complicate the case?
**Dr. Thompson:** That adds another layer to the situation. While it’s not uncommon for one parent to be unaware of the other’s actions, it raises questions about parental responsibility and the dynamics of their relationship. If Brock Harris truly had no knowledge of Allanah’s actions, the investigation must consider his role in the broader context of family dynamics and whether he failed to protect his children. Regardless, the safety and well-being of the children should always come first [[1](https://www.midilibre.fr/2024/11/21/une-influenceuse-accusee-davoir-drogue-sa-fille-pour-attirer-lattention-de-ses-abonnes-apres-lui-avoir-fait-subir-des-operations-au-cerveau-12338378.php)].
**Moderator:** Thank you for your insights, Dr. Thompson. This case underscores the critical need for vigilance and support from both medical and social services to protect children from potential harm in the age of social media.
**Dr. Thompson:** Absolutely. Protecting children’s safety and ensuring their well-being must always be a top priority, and we all have a role to play in that. Thank you for discussing this important issue.
