For the sale of hallucinogenic psychoactive substances, Senad intervened in a supposed healing sanctuary in Mbatoví

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Special Agents of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat of the Directorate of Registration and Control raided a property that functioned as a “Holistic Sanctuary of Ancestral Medicine” in the Mbatoví company of Paraguarí. Ayahuasca, a powerful psychoactive hallucinogenic substance of natural origin, whose pharmacological properties are not proven, was sold at the site.

According to the data collected, the facility located in an unpopulated area of Paraguari offered experiences and rituals of physical and spiritual healing centered on the consumption of the aforementioned psychoactive substance. They even had a delivery service for the surrounding areas and the Central department.

During the intervention coordinated by prosecutor Alfredo Manzur, 30 500 ml bottles containing concentrated ayahuasca were seized, as well as 50 droppers with the same substance and 3 precision scales, which were sent to the Senad Specialized Forensic Laboratory for rigorous analysis.

The person responsible for the place was identified and summoned for questioning by the public prosecutor, pending laboratory results.

The operation arose from a complaint filed by Ministry of Health personnel who learned of people who paid for the “experience” and subsequently suffered psychosis and intoxication crises, and were even admitted to the Psychiatric Emergency Department of the Hospital de Clínicas.

The National Directorate of Health Surveillance had already warned that products containing DMT can cause visual and auditory hallucinations, depersonalization, alterations in perception and an altered sense of time. It is also associated with increased blood pressure and heart rate, agitation, convulsions, dilated pupils, nausea, dizziness, among others, reports the National Anti-Drug Secretariat.
