MINISTER Secretary of State (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi expressed high appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman for his quick and effective steps in resolving the conflict between dairy farmers and the milk processing industry.
The conflict that peaked in Boyolali and Pasuruan occurred due to restrictions on milk acceptance quotas by the industry, which forced farmers to throw away thousands of liters of milk.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo expressed his admiration for the quick response of the Ministry of Agriculture which immediately held a meeting between breeders, collectors and industry.

“I was surprised when I received information this morning that there would be a meeting between breeders, collectors and industry initiated by the Minister of Agriculture,” said Prasetyo after the meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, Ragunan, South Jakarta, Monday (11/11).
Apart from appreciating Minister of Agriculture Amran’s quick steps, Prasetyo also praised the solution approach implemented.
“This is what we must encourage. Even though there are problems, we look for solutions together. Farmer friends and the dairy industry must be able to grow together, and the government is present in their midst,” he said.

As a result of this mediation, Minister of Agriculture Amran committed to issuing a decree requiring the milk processing industry to absorb all milk production from farmers.
This step will be strengthened through a revision of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) which requires industry to absorb local milk production. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo expressed his support for this policy.
“We are ready to support the Ministry of Agriculture. “If there are regulations that hinder us, we will tidy them up,” he added.

“The arrival of the Minister of State Secretary brings a blessing, because Alhamdulillah, this mediation can produce a good decision for all parties,” he said.
Not only about milk absorption, the Ministry of Agriculture will also invite the milk processing industry to take part in coaching farmers to improve the quality of local milk.

“It is hoped that the industry’s obligation to absorb local milk will encourage them to develop farmers. “On the other hand, farmers will also be increasingly motivated to improve the quality of their milk,” explained Minister of Agriculture Amran.
Amran added that this step was in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, who asked the government to always be present in society and make policies that could help breeders and industry players.
“Our policy must be a solution for breeders and industry players,” he concluded. (RO/Z-10)

What were the primary challenges faced by dairy farmers in Boyolali and Pasuruan regarding milk disposal due to industry quotas?
**Interview with Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi on Resolving Dairy Farmer Conflicts**
*Interviewer*: Good afternoon, Mr. Hadi. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the recent conflict between dairy farmers and the milk processing industry.
*Prasetyo Hadi*: Good afternoon, and thank you for having me.
*Interviewer*: Let’s start by addressing the situation in Boyolali and Pasuruan, where farmers were forced to discard a significant amount of milk due to industry quotas. What were the main issues that led to this conflict?
*Prasetyo Hadi*: The core issue was the restriction set by the milk processing industry on the acceptance quotas, which essentially limited the amount of milk they were willing to purchase. This situation left many farmers with excess milk they had to dispose of, which is both economically and emotionally distressing for them.
*Interviewer*: It’s quite alarming to hear that farmers had to throw away thousands of liters. What steps did the Ministry of Agriculture take to address this situation?
*Prasetyo Hadi*: Thankfully, the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, promptly initiated a meeting with all stakeholders involved—breeders, collectors, and industry representatives. This collaborative approach allowed us to directly address the concerns and find a solution that benefits everyone involved.
*Interviewer*: How did you feel about the speed at which the Ministry responded to this crisis?
*Prasetyo Hadi*: I was genuinely impressed. The rapid response demonstrated a commitment to resolving the issue effectively. It was a pleasant surprise to hear about the organization of the meeting so quickly, just hours after we received reports about the situation. This shows the proactive nature of our agriculture ministry.
*Interviewer*: What outcomes have resulted from these discussions, and how do you see these solutions impacting the dairy farmers moving forward?
*Prasetyo Hadi*: One of the key outcomes was the commitment from Minister Amran to issue a decree that mandates the milk processing industry to absorb all local milk production from the farmers. We aim to revise the existing Presidential Regulation to ensure this policy is enforced. This will ensure that our dairy farmers have a reliable outlet for their products and do not face similar issues in the future.
*Interviewer*: In your opinion, what is the broader significance of these actions for the agricultural sector in Indonesia?
*Prasetyo Hadi*: This situation is not just about dairy farmers; it is about building a sustainable agricultural system in Indonesia. By fostering cooperation between farmers and the industry, we can create an environment where both can thrive. The government’s role is to support and facilitate these relationships, ensuring that farmers are not left to struggle alone.
*Interviewer*: Thank you, Mr. Hadi, for sharing your insights. It’s reassuring to see such proactive measures being taken to support our farmers.
*Prasetyo Hadi*: Thank you for the opportunity. Together, we can build a robust agricultural sector and support our farmers for a better future.
