9:16 am: How will Europe spend the winter?
“We are preparing for any eventuality, whether it is serious disruption or a total disruption of Russian gas deliveries (…) If the worst materializes, we will have to be ready”. At the beginning of July, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, called for adaptation on the energy front in relation to Russia.
Part of the answer is expected on Wednesday, as Brussels is due to unveil various measures to reduce annual gas consumption in the EU by around 25 to 60 billion m3. Among them: limiting the heating of certain buildings, postponing the planned closure of nuclear power plants, or even encouraging companies to reduce their consumption.
