For the first time this year, more than 90% of trains arrived on time in July, according to the opendata site of Infrabel, the rail network manager.
Less than one train in 10 had a six-minute delay for its final destination on the Brussels North-Midi axis. Fewer trains have also been removed.
Punctuality remained lower than in 2022 throughout the year, although the gap has narrowed somewhat now. In July 2022, 91.7% of trains were running on time. This year, that rate was 91.1% in the same month.
In July, eight incidents caused delays of more than 1,000 minutes. Rail carriers were involved in half of these incidents. The rest was due to damage to catenaries or railway equipment. At Welle, this resulted in 74 canceled trains and a total delay of 3,248 minutes.
