After almost three years since the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the Ministry of Health of the Nationreleased for the first time a report detailing the Adverse effects associated with immunization and its correspondence with vaccines from different laboratories.

This national report identifies 33 reported diseases in a period following administration of the dose. However, the study emphasizes that this information does not definitively confirm a connection between the condition and the vaccine. The research was carried out from the beginning of the vaccination campaign in December 2020 until April 30, 2023.

The first notable data shows that, of the 64,010 adverse effects recorded, only 3,149 were considered serious, which represents a rate of 2.7 per 100,000 doses administered. The vaccine with the greatest diversity of serious adverse effects was AstraZeneca, associated with 19 of the 33 identified diseases. Next in order are Sputnik V (15), Sinopharm (10), Pfizer (7) and Moderna (5).

Vaccine incidents

The disorder with the highest incidence among all categories was thrombosis syndrome (blood clots in deep veins), specifically related to the AstraZeneca vaccine, with a rate of 0.05 per 100,000 applications.

Other side effects with AstraZeneca include autoimmune thrombocytopenia syndrome and Guillain-Barré syndrome, both with an incidence of 0.03 per 100,000 vaccinated people.

For its part, Pfizer registered a low incidence of Guillain-Barré syndrome, with 0.01 per 100,000 doses administered. Instead, the Sputnik V showed a higher incidence, with 0.053 for this syndrome. For thrombocytopenia, the incidence was 0.029. In Sinopharm, this last syndrome presented a rate of 0.01.

It was registered on transverse myelopathy syndrome for those who received the Sputnik vaccine, with an incidence of 0.014 per 100,000 people. This syndrome is characterized by inflammation of the spinal cord, interrupting signals between the nerves and the rest of the body.
