Patrick Martin, the new president of Medef for the next five years, is making his first trip to Rennes with the Le Duff group, a flagship of the French food industry. Europe 1 was the only radio present during this trip which was not insignificant.
First trip this Thursday for the brand new boss of Medef, Patrick Martin. He recently succeeded Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux at the head of the employers’ organization, chose Rennes, where the Le Duff group is located. A far from trivial choice since this company is a flagship of the French food industry which wishes to develop in France. But it gave up building a new factory in Liffré, near Rennes, under pressure from environmental associations. For his field baptism at the head of the Medef, Patrick Martin wanted to recall this episode.
Towards a reduction in instruction times?
“All the legal and regulatory conditions were met. We cannot accept that, because some want to go beyond the law and the regulations, they dictate their own laws, their own regulations. We are in a country, in a continent of law, where companies comply with regulations. Everyone must comply with them,” he said.
On the side of the Le Duff group, the aborted project remains painful. Present to welcome Patrick Martin, the CEO, Louis Le Duff, 76, recalled the consequences of this abandonment. “We bought a factory in Portugal which is regarding the same size as Liffré. We bought another in Connecticut and doubled up in Montreal. Which is at least twice the size of Liffré”. To avoid a new episode of Le Duff, Patrick Martin wants to reduce the instruction time to seven months, half as much as today.
