Konami has announced that, as the Metal Gear series enters its 35th anniversary, it will begin preparations for the relaunch of works that have been on sale in the past. However, KONAMI did not disclose whether it will be presented in a re-production, etc., or if only the past works will be sold on the market once more, and it has not stated which works will be launched once more.
The “Metal Gear Solid” series was first created by producer Hideo Kojima, and was launched on the Japanese home computer platform MSX2 on July 13, 1987. Compared with the mainstream games at that time, players faced the enemy head-on. “Spy Shadow” is the first to incorporate the “stealth” play method, by hiding personal whereregardings, to sneak into the enemy camp to complete the task.
In addition, “Metal Gear Solid” integrates elements such as Cold War, nuclear weapons, mysterious armed organizations and high technology, and also attracts a large number of players to support the story. And then on the PlayStation platform, the game screen is presented in 3D form for the first time, changing the way of playing in full 2D plane form in the past, and combining the plot-like interpretation of the movie, making the series of works become the world’s best-selling 3A-level games.
But in fact, the translation name of the current “Metal Gear Solid” that players are familiar with refers to the version released on the PlayStation platform – “Metal Gear Solid”, and the earlier versions launched on the MSX2 platform were named “Metal Gear” and “Metal”. Gear 2 Solid Snake, named following the bipedal walking mobile weapon that appeared in the game.
