Danish two-Michelin star chef Rasmus Munk has designed a dinner served 30 km above Earth. Only six passengers will be able to participate in this incredible experience.
Absent from Earth for a few hours to enjoy a star-studded dinner at an altitude of 30,000 meters will be possible from the end of 2025. At least that is the ambition of Space Vip, an American luxury space travel operator which is is associated with chef Rasmus Munk. The 32-year-old Dane, awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide for his restaurant Alchemist in Copenhagen, is known for his provocative tone and the length of his menus (up to 50 courses).
«The expedition will take place aboard Space Perspective’s Neptune spacecraft (…) where six passengers will redefine gastronomy by enjoying the meal of a lifetime while observing the sunset over the curvature of our planet“, the Danish chef said in a statement. Cost of the dinner: $495,000 (456,000 euros), travel and drinks included. The profits from this evening will be entirely donated to the Space Prize Foundation, which promotes gender equality in science and technology.

Departing from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Nepture capsule will rise to its cruising altitude (30 km above sea level), not thanks to a rocket, but a hydrogen-powered balloon. . “We slowly rise to 12 miles [19,3 km, NDLR] per hour, making the experience accessible to anyone medically fit to fly with a commercial airline”, according to Space Perspective, the company behind the stratospheric balloon.
The dishes, cooked in the capsule by Rasmus Munk himself, will be inspired “by the role of space exploration over the last 60 years of human history and the impact it has had on our society, both scientifically and philosophically», explains Roman Chiporukha, CEO of Space Vip. The capsule will be equipped with Wi-Fi to allow passengers to share their experience with their loved ones back on Earth.
