For French Montana, labels are delighted with deaths in rap

The number of deaths in rap across the Atlantic does not seem to begin the slightest fall. Faced with this dramatic observation, French Montana takes the floor, evoking a chilling hypothesis in the process.

The chilling theory of French Montana

The last few years have been deadly for rap. Between XXXTentacion in 2018, Nipsey Hussle in 2019, Pop Smoke and King Von in 2020, Young Dolph and Drakeo the Ruler in 2021 and Trouble last June, the disappearances are numerous. And once more, we are only talking regarding the headliners here, the list being in fact much more extensive.

This being so, according to French Montana, rising death tolls prompted record companies to take out life insurance policies for their artists, reflecting a brutal economic reality. In any case, this is what he explained during a passage at the microphone of the podcast Off The Record : “We were in beef for real. People were dying, this, that, and it cost them a lot of money. Your friend in rap stops pocketing, the labels stop pocketing. […] Now it’s even worse. They take out life insurance contracts for artists. At least they didn’t do that before. You will pray for his death. You’re praying for millions of dollars over his death. » It will add: “They are realistic. You’re supposed to have life insurance anyway, but when the label does, if you don’t, it’s madness. »
