The WhatsApp instant messaging app has introduced new features for status updates such as emoji reactions and a private audience selector. In addition, it has also launched the audio status feature for Android users that allows them to set their own audio clip as a status update.

Earlier, WhatsApp only allowed users to send audio messages in individual and group chats, but the latest update introduced the ability to share an audio message as a status, and the app allows users to share audio status updates for up to 30 seconds, which is the same as the maximum video status updates.

How to share an audio status on WhatsApp for Android

1. Launch WhatsApp on your phone.

2. Swipe left to go to the Status tab.

3. Tap on the pen icon available at the bottom right corner of the screen.

4. Tap and hold the microphone icon to start recording your voice, release the button when done to see a preview.

5. Finally, hit the submit button to upload your voice status update.
