Portal PCGamesN noticed that following debut at The Game Awards 2022 PC version of the sci-fi roguelike shooter Returnal from the Housemarque studio has acquired system requirements.
As it became known thanks to opened on Steam Returnal page, to run the game on a PC, you will need an Intel Core i5-6400 processor with 2.7 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB and 16 GB of RAM.
Returnal system requirements are as follows:
Minimum Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 (64 bit, version 1903);
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 @ 2.7GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X @ 3.5GHz
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB)
- RAM: 16 GB;
- disk space: 60 GB (SSD recommended).
Recommended Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 (64 bit, version 1903);
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 @ 3.7GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X @ 3.7GHz
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB)
- RAM: 32 GB;
- disk space: 60 GB.
PCGamesN journalists note that the requirement for 32 GB of RAM is twice the requirements of most modern releases. On the other hand, Returnal is not the first game with such “appetites”.
For example, 32 GB of RAM need Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Portal with RTXas well as the not-yet-released The Invinciblebut their requirements are explained either by the maximum graphics settings or weak optimization.
Pre-PC leaks suggest that Returnal will offer ray-traced shadows and reflections, dynamic resolution, and support for DLSS, AMD FSR, and NIS (NVIDIA Image Scaling), though the Steam page doesn’t say anything regarding it.
Returnal debuted in April 2021 on PS5 and will arrive on PC (Steam) in early 2023. The game tells regarding a female astronaut Selene, who finds herself in a time loop on the exotic planet Atropos.
