Football World Cup 2030: Saudi, Egypt, Greece join bid to host | Football World Cup 2030: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece join forces to host

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece are reportedly making a concerted effort to host the 2030 World Cup. This was revealed by the Egyptian Ministry of Sports spokesman Mohamed Fawzi on a private television channel. He said that the three countries are studying the joint possibility of hosting the 2030 World Cup. Egypt is one of the best countries to host such a sports event. He said that Egypt has hosted many world championships in the last three years. Major international sporting events including the European Club Football and World Boxing Championships have already been hosted in Saudi Arabia as part of Vision 2030.

Greece’s Hellenic Football Federation also confirmed that the three countries are in talks regarding a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. British newspaper The Times reported that if the attempt is successful, the World Cup might be held in winter, avoiding the extreme temperature season in all three countries.

Apart from the joint bid of Egypt, Greece and Saudi Arabia, efforts from other countries are also underway. Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay launched their bid to host the 2030 World Cup in the first week of August this year, while a joint bid between Spain and Portugal was announced last year. South America is also in the running to host the 2030 soccer final at the same Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, where the first title match took place 100 years ago.
