Having remained without a club since leaving Bordeaux last summer, the Swiss international, now unemployed, is talking with FC Sion.
At 30, Loris Benito is now an unemployed player. In the wake of Euro 2020, which he had essentially spent on the bench, the left side found himself in the border in Bordeaux. Having become persona non grata there, Benito had only crossed paths with Vladimir Petkovic at the Girondins.
After terminating his contract on August 1, the defender thought he might easily find a new address ready to welcome him. Which was not the case, the pandemic not facilitating his job search.
Here he is today awaiting a new challenge, with the aim of finding playing time for the 2022 World Cup. The person concerned, who has long favored a solution in England or Germany, no longer excludes a return to Switzerland. As evidenced by the discussions started with FC Sion according to an indiscretion of view. “I discuss with Loris, confirms Christian Constantin. It might be a possibility but nothing is signed yet. He’s a player we’re interested in, that’s where we are.”
The rest is a game of liar poker far from over. A part in which Philipp Degen, the player’s manager, is also involved. “Each must make an effort in the direction of the other party,” concludes the boss of Tourbillon.
Before taking the direction of Bordeaux (where he played 59 matches), Loris Benito had successively evolved in Aarau, Zurich, Benfica and Young Boys, club under the colors of which he celebrated two titles of Swiss champion (in 2018 and 2019 ).
