Tolmezzo Battles to Victory Over Union Martignacco
In a thrilling match showcasing the dynamism of the Regional Juniores/Under 19 Championship, the undefeated Tolmezzo squad, led by Coach Fabrizio Damiani, emerged victorious against Union Martignacco in a 3-2 battle.
Dominant First Half for Tolmezzo
The first half belonged to Tolmezzo. The team controlled the pace of the game, demonstrating their tactical mastery and skillful play. Goals from Zanier and Flora in the 25th and 32nd minutes, respectively, established a solid 2-0 lead for the home team by halftime.
A Second Half Filled with Drama
The second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Unfortunately, a red card issued to Tolmezzo’s Alex Tomat for an untoward comment to a Martignacco player left the home team with a numerical disadvantage for the remainder of the match. Despite being down a man, Tolmezzo continued to hold their own.
“Match won 3-2,” Coach Damiani reflected after the game. “I’m not entirely happy with these results. It was a game in total control; we were 2-0 at the end of the first half, played well, thanks to goals from Zanier and Flora. Then, around a quarter of an hour into the second half, Alex Tomat was a bit naive and said something to a Martignacco player. I don’t know if the referee misinterpreted what he said, but in any case, he sent him off, and we were left 10 against 11.”
He continued, “However, we were managing it well then; following a relaunch from our half of the pitch, a sensational ‘duck’ from our goalkeeper brought them back into the match.” The Union Martignacco goal, while unfortunate, ignited a renewed fervor in the visiting team. “Despite giving away the 1-2, we had the strength to react and scored the 3-1, with a great goal from Federico Flora,” Damiani explained.
A Late Surge and A Hard-Fought Victory
Just when it seemed Tolmezzo had secured the win, a late back pass from Rotter, intercepted by Union Martignacco’s center forward, led to their second goal, tightening the score line to 3-2.
“In summary, I’m not entirely happy because I don’t feel good about conceding these goals, but overall we had an important performance against a good team, trained optimally,” concluded Damiani, adding, “A team that placed Rive Flaibano in difficulty last week, the first team in the class, who we expect to face on Saturday in Tolmezzo.”
Do you believe the team needs to make any meaningful adjustments to be accomplished against stronger competition in the future?
Coach Damiani, you weren’t entirely satisfied with the win despite the scoreline. Do you think the team’s performance will have fans questioning their ability to maintain their undefeated streak against tougher opponents?
