Football OM – OM: Malinovskyi said yes, McCourt said no

Will Ruslan Malinovskyi be the 12th reinforcement for Olympique de Marseille during this transfer window? To achieve this, Pablo Longoria must now tie up a deal that will allow OM to pay Atalanta a fortune.

Igor Tudor does not have a hand in the OM transfer market, but the successor to Jorge Sampaoli hopes that its president will achieve a final and superb coup by recruiting Ruslan Malinovskyi. The Ukrainian midfielder from Atalanta is very tempted to join Olympique de Marseille and Ligue 1, even to the point of having already given an agreement to the Marseille leaders on the outlines of a possible future contract. While the transfer window ends Thursday at 11 p.m., time is running out and that does not help the vice-champion of France. Because the financial reality is there, Frank McCourt does not want to put one more euro in the coffers of OM when he has already consolidated the accounts at the beginning of the summer, and to convince the Italian club it will be necessary to pay 25 million euros… or else integrate a player into the operation. And that’s where the file gets stuck.

OM must sell to buy Malinovskyi

At first, Pablo Longoria had offered Atalanta to integrate Cengiz Under into the transfer of Ruslan Malinovskyi, but the Turkish player from OM did not validate this lead. As L’Equipe points out, Gian Piero Gasperini was also not very keen on bringing in Cengiz Under, and this option was therefore put aside. The sports daily specifies that on Monday OM and the Bergamo club timidly resumed negotiations, but no financial agreement seems possible as Atalanta remains firm on this price of 25 million euros. It will therefore be necessary for Olympique de Marseille to sell one or more days to tie up the arrival of Ruslan Malinovskyi. All eyes are now on Bemba Dieng, Jordan Amavi and Cédric Bakambu.
