If you are looking for a long-term project: here it is. The road to the Premier League is long. And until you have caught up with the financial lead of Manchester, Liverpool and Chelsea, there will be many seasons to play, countless wonderkids to scout and a number of transfers to bag.

For tacticians: Athletic Bilbao
Buy players together for his tactics? Anyone can do that – at least if they can take advantage of the full transfer market. As the coach of Bilbao, things are different: As in real life, the club is only allowed to sign Basques in Football Manager. The game does not allow any other transfers.
After all, the traditionally strong youth work will provide you with suitable players for the first team. Otherwise, the same applies to the manageable transfer market: you have to tactically get the best out of the Basques that are available to you. If there are no big strikers, wing play makes little sense. And if there are no good sixes available, you just have to retrain players or adjust your formation.
The reward: A team that can take on Real and Barcelona as a tight-knit unit on good days. It’s not for nothing that Bilbao has won the Spanish Cup more times than Los Blancos from Madrid.

With Pelé and Neymar, FC Santos has produced two of the greatest Brazilian footballers of all time. For this reason alone, the club is perfect for taking the leap across the Atlantic in Football Manager.
The Brazilian league is characterized by a great balance, so that an exciting season is guaranteed and even outsiders with a strong run can cause big trouble. This is of course caused by European clubs who carefully explore the market with their scouts in search of the next Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or Kaka – and regularly withdraw the best players.
