Football: Lille beat Real Madrid in the Champions League

Real Madrid had 14 consecutive matches in the Champions League without a loss.

Away against French Lille, that streak broke. The home team beat the reigning champions 1-0.

The decision came at the end of the first half. Lille were awarded a penalty kick after Eduardo Camavinga caught the ball on the arm in the penalty area.

Jonathan David stepped forward and scored the lead goal – which also became the only one of the match.

The Swedish left back Gabriel Gudmundsson played the whole match. The 25-year-old was taken out earlier in the day in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s national team squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Slovakia and Estonia.
