Football, Italy wins 3-0 in Norway in the U21 European Championship qualifiers: Baldanzi show

After the clear 7-0 in San Marino, Carmine Nunziata’s Italy Under 21 team confirms its performance in the non-trivial trip to Norway. The Azzurrini win 3-0 with a fantastic Tommaso Baldanzi: the Roma attacking midfielder was in doubt on the eve of the match due to a contusive trauma in the lumbar-sacral area and not only did he play as a starter, but he decided the match with a splendid hat-trick.

The approach to the match is immediately good for Italy with a notable pressing and a good intensity. The advantage comes after just ten minutes with a spectacular action: Pio Esposito backheeled for Gnonto, then served Baldanzi who beat the goalkeeper with a nice low left-footed shot.

Norway then tries to take control of the game and grow, but Italy is well positioned on the pitch, closes all the spaces and defends with order, to then strike quickly. After a difficult start to the second half, the Azzurrini return to growth with the post hit by Pisilli and with the goal in the 72nd minute again by Baldanzi: enters the area from the left and breaks the door with his left foot. The former Empoli playmaker is once again there to close the match: another piece of magic with his left foot under the crossbar to seal this wonderful performance.

Italy therefore confirms its first place in the qualifying group for the next European Championship in its category: you need to finish first to qualify directly. The Azzurrini are currently on 21 points against Ireland’s 17, who have one game less. The tenth and final match for our national team will be against Ireland and could be decisive for the first position.
