Tottenham and Manchester United made two good moves in the race for Europe on Wednesday, winning their late Premier League Matchday 17 matches at Leicester (3-2) and Brentford (3-1).

In the standings, the Spurs overtake Arsenal with 36 points once morest 35 and come to be placed in the wheel of the fourth and last virtual qualifier for the Champions League, West Ham, which has 37 units but which has played three matches more than Tottenham

Even Chelsea, third at eight lengths, but with four more matches, does not seem beyond the reach of Antonio Conte’s men.

As for the Red Devils, who had let slip a success that stretched their arms at Aston Villa (2-2 following leading 2-0) on Saturday, they are in ambush in seventh place with 35 points and 21 matches, another one delay.

If Spurs had to wait for a double in added time from substitute Steven Bergwijn, announced on departure this winter, to triumph on the wire, success at the King Power Stadium was quite logical in view of the match.

Two goals in stoppage time

Only the clumsiness of Kane, who had missed several clear chances, with a save on the line from Luke Thomas (12th) or a header on the bar (18th), had allowed Leicester to glimpse success.

A goal completely once morest the course of play from Patson Daka, had put the Foxes in the lead, and if Kane had ended up setting the sights (1-1, 38th), James Maddison, on a very nice goal, had restored the advantage to his own (2-1, 76th).

This was without counting the two late blows from the Dutch winger, who put a trailing ball in the background (2-2, 95th) before going on the counter and dribbling Kasper Schmeichel, in a desperate defense, to give three well-deserved points (2-3, 97th) with 27 shots including ten on target for the Londoners once morest 14 and four for the locals.

Since Conte’s arrival on the bench, Tottenham have taken 21 points out of a possible 27 in the league, including eight snatched following being trailed, a sign of exemplary mentality and self-sacrifice.

De Gea in form

United’s victory will have taken longer to take shape, as the promoted jostled him in the first period.

David de Gea still had to multiply reflex stops, especially in front of Mathias Jensen (13th, 32nd), to keep his team afloat.

But when they returned from the locker room, Manchester showed themselves to be much more to their advantage and very realistic by scoring three times on five shots on target.

The young Anthony Elanga, preferred to Anthony Martial, on the bench, opened the scoring with skill and composure (1-0, 55th) before Mason Greenwood (2-0, 62nd) and Marcus Rashford (3-0, 77th), once morest, do not put the Red Devils away.

Ivan Toney reduced the score in the 85th (3-1), but this second period might well be a benchmark for the Mancunians since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick on the bench.
