The first half was a closed story. It took almost 40 minutes before Ioannis Pittas got the match’s first really hot scoring chance.
However, the striker’s finish went wide and the teams went to the half-time break with 0–0 on the scoreboard.
– We have to be a little calmer with the ball. We stress. AIK runs straight into pressure. We fatten them up a bit, stated MFF coach Henrik Rydström in the halftime interview with Max.
The striker self-critical
The away team came out stronger in the second half. It took just over ten minutes before the ball ended up with Isaac Kiese Thelin in the penalty area. However, the 32-year-old shot high over.
– I miss it completely. I had almost counted it in. Sometimes it fits and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s sour now, he says.
What did you think when you missed such a chance in such an important match?
– You get annoyed, but you try to let it go as quickly as possible. You are angry about it now. As a striker, you will miss a lot but also score a lot. That’s the life of a striker.
AIK pressed on at the end
Taha Ali had a great chance to give MFF the lead moments later, but his shot was deflected for a corner.
AIK also had good opportunities to score in the match, including through Bersant Celina, but the match ended 0–0.
– A lot of fighting, a lot of duels, a lot of balls in the air. But in the end it is us who push, we are tough to face and tried to go for the win, says Anton Salétros to SVT Sport.
