Football – Fired for a Thai boxing blow

Posted

Aitsaret Noichaiboon has been sacked by his club Bangkok FC following elbowing an opponent violently.

Sunday, during a meeting of the Thai first division between North Bangkok University FC and Bangkok FC (3-0), Aitsaret Noichaiboon saw red in every sense of the word. After being hit in the back of the leg and probably frustrated by the turn of the match, he rushed towards his opponent to deliver him an elbow worthy of a Thai boxing match. He was obviously expelled by the referee of the meeting.

His club condemned the gesture and fired him with immediate effect. Bangkok FC has issued an apology to the attacked player and will bear all medical costs. The victim was admitted to hospital and it took 24 stitches to heal a lip wound.
