Chelsea’s title dreams looked set to go up in smoke following the 4-3 loss to Liverpool this week.
Now the title race is very much alive once more in the Women’s Super League following Stina Blackstenius turned the match for Arsenal once morest Manchester City and Chelsea ran over Bristol City 8-0.
– Today was another opportunity for us to get closer to something that was slipping out of our grasp, Chelsea coach Emma Hayes told Sky Sports following their closing performance at home.
“It’s emotional”
Chelsea, with Swedes Zecira Musovic, Nathalie Björn and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd in the team, went into the break with a 2–0 lead. Then it rattled – really hard. Nathalie Björn assisted one of the goals in the 8–0 victory, where Norwegian Guro Reiten accounted for four hits.
– It is emotional. I’ve had a lot on my mind. I have spent a third of my life (as a manager) at Chelsea. It has been my home. It’s felt strange to me the last few months but I’m grateful, said Hayes following the victory, which following the season takes over the US national team.
Chelsea are three points behind Manchester City, with a game in hand, with two rounds remaining.
