FC Energie Cottbus is the most popular club in Brandenburg. In a survey by the football portal “The False 9”, the promoted team to the 3rd league received more than half of the votes.

In keeping with the state elections in Brandenburg on September 22nd, 2024, the football portal “The False 9” has started a survey about the favorite club from Brandenburg. FC Energie Cottbus, which is currently causing a sensation as a promoted team in the 3rd league, won first place by a large margin.
A total of 2,740 valid votes were cast, and 95 clubs received at least one vote. Energie Cottbus was voted the most popular club in Brandenburg 1,377 times, which corresponds to 50 percent of the votes. They are followed by SV Babelsberg 03 (19 percent) from the Regionalliga Nordost and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam (7 percent) from the Women’s Bundesliga.
1. FC Frankfurt ends up behind city rivals
There is a real surprise in 4th place: FC Union Frankfurt (Oder), which is currently in 12th place in the Ostbrandenburg district league (9th league), landed there with almost six percent of the votes. The 1. FC Frankfurt (2 percent) from the Brandenburg League finished the voting in 5th place.
This is followed by FSV Optik Rathenow, FSV Luckenwalde and MSV Neuruppin. All clubs from Brandenburg that play in the Brandenburg League or higher in the 2024/25 season were eligible to vote. However, users were able to enter other clubs and vote for them
Dynamo Dresden and Hansa Rostock also at the front
“The Wrong 9” had also started a survey about the most popular club in the other federal states on the occasion of the respective state elections: Dynamo Dresden, Hansa Rostock, 1. FC Magdeburg, Carl Zeiss Jena, 1. FC Union Berlin, Hannover 96 and VfB Lübeck secured victory in their state , 1860 Munich, VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Saarbrücken, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen. Only in Hamburg is the survey still pending and should take place at the next state election in the Hanseatic city on March 2, 2025.
