Football: Bayern stays on track against Wolfsburg

After some warm-up time, coach Julian Nagelsmann’s star ensemble turned up the heat in front of 75,000 spectators in the Allianz Arena and scored goals from Jamal Musiala (33′) and Thomas Müller (43′), but also missed many chances. In addition, Bayern’s newcomer Sadio Mane had to be annoyed that the video assistant – rightly – denied him two goals for offside.

The Wolfsburg, where the former Bayern coach Niko Kovac returned to his old place of work as a VfL coach, had no chance overall. Also in the 26th attempt there was no victory in Munich. Patrick Wimmer was substituted at half-time for the “Wolves”.

Goalless draw in heated battle in Mainz

FSV Mainz 05 and 1. FC Union Berlin had previously failed to draw level with the top duo, at least in terms of points. Both clubs drew 0-0, but are still undefeated following the second matchday with four points each.

In the heat, the teams delivered a rather tired kick in front of 25,000 spectators that didn’t deserve a winner. Union (Christopher Trimmel from the 82nd minute) made the best start to the season in Bundesliga history despite the zero number. Mainz (Karim Onisiwo up to the 85th minute, Marlon Mustapha from the 75th minute) missed starting with two wins for the first time since the 2013/14 season.
