Football: AIK’s unbeaten streak continues – won against Sirius 1-0

To find AIK’s latest loss in the Allsvenskan, we have to go back as far as July 29, when they lost by the odd goal against the successful team Gais.

Since then, the Stockholm team has steamed on with seven wins and a cross, that against league leader Malmö.

– We have worked with the defensive structure and play according to the players’ strengths. They are very mature and intelligent players so they quickly learn how to defend. It’s probably a bit about the quality of the players too, says the successful coach Mikkkjal Thomassen about the suite to Max.

Last Victoria they went to Uppsala to collect. Strong defensive play and efficiency in the box gave AIK three new points.

The winning goal came from a corner after just over an hour of play. Finnish Onni Valakari sent in a ball that an onrushing Benjamin Tiedemann Hansen was able to head in from close range.

Sirius came incredibly close to equalizing when Joacim Persson got a toe on a ball that was extended, but Kristoffer Nordfeldt got down quickly and got his fingers on the ball for a highly qualified save.

AIK had another ball in the net that was ruled out for offside, but pictures showed that goalscorer Bersant Celina may have been on the right side line.

With the three new points, AIK steps up to a European place and becomes third in the table, albeit with one more game played.
