Abdominal gas is one of the annoying problems that affect the digestive system, and it causes severe inconvenience, especially when the affected person is among others, and there are a range of foods that may cause it and others that help prevent it.

In the following lines, “Consulto” reviews a list of the most prominent foods that do not cause flatulence, according to the “Livestrong” website.

1- Fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are important components of any healthy diet, however, if you are prone to flatulence, you may want to limit your intake of cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli, and some fruits, such as bananas and raisins, as they may exacerbate symptoms.

The University of Maryland Medical Center recommends that people with irritable bowel syndrome, a condition that typically causes gas, bloating and other symptoms, limit these fruits and vegetables.

The list of non-invasive vegetables and fruits includes berries, cantaloupe, sweet peppers, and avocados.

2- Substitutes for yogurt and dairy products

Lactose intolerance becomes more common in adulthood, and for those people who are lactose intolerant, this natural sugar in dairy products from cow’s milk can cause or worsen gas or other symptoms of intestinal upset and general discomfort.

Non-dairy milks, such as almond, soy and rice “milk”, are a useful alternative.

Probiotic supplements may also help relieve gas and other IBS symptoms, although you should always tell your doctor what kind of supplements you’re taking.

3- Lean Proteins

Fats in the diet do not cause flatulence, but they can increase bloating and gas pain by delaying stomach emptying.

The NDDIC recommends limiting fatty foods and emphasizing lean protein sources to reduce gas, because while fatty meats may cause gas, protein alone does not stimulate gas during digestion.

Instead of fatty steaks, pastries or fried appetizers, choose lower-fat alternatives such as grilled or grilled fish or skinless white chicken kebabs.

Other lean protein sources that you can snack on include soybeans, and you can keep fat levels low by seasoning high-protein foods with herbs and spices instead of heavy sauces or butter.
