While he is busy collecting the latest essential data to produce his report on the price of the grocery basket, Sylvain Charleboix is optimistic that food inflation will slow down.

“I think so. We will get the figures tomorrow for the month of August and we expect the gap between inflation and food inflation to narrow further. We will end the year according to our report from last year: we had planned at 5 or 6% and we are heading towards that as well. The gap between inflation and food inflation will be at 0 in 2024,” mentions the specialist.

Mr. Charlebois will return to the show “le 20h30” hosted by Pierre-Olivier Zappa at the beginning of December to comment on the data from the new report.

“I am announcing to you that the 2024 report will be released on December 5,” he said.
