Fontena and Ancud rose to second place in the Chile Cup

With a double victory, ABA Ancud of Carupanero power forward Juan Fontena catapulted after the last day of the Chile Basketball Cup.

The Ancuditans dominated Atlético Puerto Varas 69-62 and repeated the dose 91-76 over Deportivo Valdivia, to remain with a record of 3-1 and rise to second place in the South Zone of the event, escorting the leader Universidad de Concepción (UDEC ).

Fontena’s work

In the first match, Fontena appeared with four points, five rebounds, two assists and a block; and in the second challenge he produced five points, three sacks, one turnover and two blocks.

In La Casa del Deporte de Concepción, the UDEC had no problems sending 113-90 to Las Ánimas de Valdivia.

With the victory, El Campanil remained undefeated after five presentations.

For the university students, Barloventeño center Carlos Milano contributed 10 points, five boards and three decisive passes.

Venezuelan clash

In Santiago there was no Venezuelan duel and Leones de Quilpué defeated Universidad Católica 67-61, with which the cats remain leaders of the Central Zone, tied with Municipal de Puente Alto, thanks to a 4-1 record. The Catholics are fifth with a 2-3 record.

For Leones, Creoles Sergio Mijares, Jesús Mijares and Moisés Galaviz did not jump to the board of the Las Condes Sports Building. For the university students, Deiker Salcedo from Lara stood out with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two recovered balls.

The action of the cup event will continue next weekend.
