Asuncion, IP.- In the first half of February, the Board of Directors of the Financial Fund for the Development of the Cuenca del Plata (Fonplata) is expected to approve the Government’s request for a USD 100 million loan, which will be used entirely to finance the asphalt paving of the 101 km long Alberdi – Pilar route.
The Ministry of Finance has already sent all the documentation relating to the aforementioned road project and the draft contract for study and approval by the regional body.
Fernando Rodríguez, from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), announced that if the line of credit is approved, the agreement would be signed during the first quarter of this year and then submitted to the National Congress for consideration.
At the same time, the MOPC will be calling for an international public tender for the execution of the project. He mentioned that the works on the runway will begin between September and October of this year, with completion expected by March 2019.
This is a complicated section because there are areas with estuaries and flooding. For this reason, a reinforced concrete bridge of about 350 meters will have to be built, plus a spillway of 75 meters in length, in addition to the installation of tubular and cellular sewers.
In addition, the embankment will be raised, the domain strips will be cleared, the slopes will be covered, and the ditches and drainage channels will be lined on both sides of the road.
