Following the measures announced to advance the deregulation of the air commerce market, The Government ordered the intervention of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) for a period of 180 daysThe objective, according to the official statement, is to “raise its operational safety standards, optimize and digitalize administrative processes and audit its last years of management.”
The person in charge of the intervention will be Maria Julia Corderowho was already working in the Undersecretariat of Air Transport, dependent on the Ministry of Transport.
The decree clarifies that the agency will continue to be managed in a decentralized manner, within the orbit of the Ministry of Transportation, through the Undersecretariat of Air Transportation headed by Hernán Gómez, who will now be responsible for coordinating the actions of the Administration.
The measure involves the displacement of Gustavo Maronwhich was currently in charge of the agency that oversees air activities.
The decision is made based on the fact that, following the recently sanctioned Decree on deregulation of air activity, the ANAC plays an essential role, since it will be responsible for defining essential parameters for the operation of aviation in the country.
Since the procedures for authorising routes and operations have now been significantly simplified, the task of regulating operational safety issues, both for aircraft and for airports or aerodromes, is now in the hands of ANAC.
