The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) of Colombia assured this Wednesday that the probability that Dos, second potential cyclone this year in the Atlantic basin, reaches the Caribbean archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina as a hurricane.

The general director of Ideam, Yolanda González, assured that, however, the country must be prepared for “in the next few hours” to face a “increased cloudiness and moderate to heavy precipitation, accompanied by thunderstorms in large sectors of the eastern and central Caribbean Sea”.

“In the continental area we expect heavy rains (…) in La Guajira, Magdalena, Cesar and Bolivar”, expressed the general director of Ideam.

On the zoom.earth website Dos’s route can be consulted in real time, that has already passed through Venezuela, where it caused “light and moderate” rains in several regions, but it weakened and “everything is under control in the northern coastal area.”

“What has to do with Venezuela is coming out. Already this waterspout that was a threat of a cyclone once morest our country that weakened and took another course (…) Tomorrow, then, given these circumstances, we are going Thursday and Friday to return to classes once more, “said Nicolás Maduro in telephone contact with the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

Maduro, however, assured that “preventive measures are maintained” and that the security and protection forces are active, especially in the western states of Falcón and Zulia, where the passage of the cyclone was recorded.
