Yamaha inaugurates this Tuesday the round of team presentations in MotoGP, which already gives a taste of the new season to come. For the occasion, the tuning fork brand moved its troops to Jakarta, Indonesia. Time difference obliges, it will be necessary to get up early to discover the Yamaha YZR-M1 2023 live, in the presence of Fabio Quartararo et Franco Morbidelli.
A brand new livery has already been announced, although the brand’s title sponsor, Monster, will still be represented in view of the renewal of the partnership signed for several seasons last June.
The stakes are high for Yamaha and for its two riders since the performance of the new prototype must absolutely convince this year. If the French succeeded during a large part of last season to compensate for the lack of power of the M1, he finally had to bow to the Ducati. For his part, Morbidelli suffered at the bottom of the classification, without ever reaching to find the necessary confidence and aggressiveness on the motorcycle.
Quartararo had already made no secret of having discussed with other manufacturers last season, and might have to leave Yamaha if the performance was not at the expected level. His teammate’s future with the team is equally uncertain given his lack of results. In either case, an upgrade to the M1 is essential so that both riders can exploit its full potential.
