What is it regarding ? Ski and rifle, with the penultimate stage of the Biathlon World Cup.
On the menu: the mass start (mass start) – known as the “queen of races” or “race of kings” –, a direct confrontation event reserved for the thirty best biathletes in the world – the first 25 in the general classification and the five best “others” of the week.
The rules ? The athletes start at the same time, four per line at the start, for 15 km (i.e. 5 laps of 3 km) for men, 12.5 km (5 laps of 2.5 km) for women.
Four passages on the firing point: the first two in the prone position and the following in the standing position. Each missed target will send the athlete spinning on the penalty ring for an additional 150m.
The winner is the first biathlete to cross the finish line.
