Particular attention this year will be paid to industries for the training of specialists in IT and engineering specialties.
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting on the preparation of federal departments and universities of the country for the start of the 2023 admission campaign, which starts on June 20.
“In 2023, there are a number of innovations in the admissions campaign: benefits have been established for SVO participants and members of their families, and for the first time a mechanism has been launched to update admission targets in accordance with the needs of the economy. This made it possible to redistribute additional budgetary places in priority sectors for the training of specialists in IT and engineering specialties,” Chernyshenko said.
Thanks to the new mechanism, more than 4,300 places have been allocated for the Computer Science and Computer Engineering direction, more than 1,200 places for Electric and Thermal Power Engineering, 1,424 places for Mechanical Engineering, and 1,751 places for Management in Technical Systems.
This year, more than 626,000 state-funded places have been allocated as part of the enrollment targets, about 36,000 of which are for universities in new regions. All departments and universities of the country, including new regions, are ready to start the admission campaign on June 20.
