FM4 Soundpark Day: Celebrating the Best of Austria’s Music Scene

2023-10-26 08:01:49

A different kind of tradition: Every year we celebrate our local music scene with FM4 Soundpark Day. This year with concerts from FM4 darlings like Nino from Vienna, CULK, BEX and many more. You can find all the pictures, sounds and texts in this article – as a live ticker!

The FM4 Soundpark Day on the Austrian national holiday celebrates the Austrian music scene year after year. We make it our goal to completely alienate the annual romanticism of the homeland and to give a damn about politically oriented nationalities. On FM4 Soundpark Day we focus on what is really important to us at FM4: Our place for homegrown music!

For most people, holidays may be days of rest and relaxation, one or two (vegan) schnitzels are eaten, a trip is planned or just a celebratory day of watching Netflix on the couch. In the FM4 studios on Küniglberg in Vienna, things look a little different today. Instead of the holiday autopilot program, here today it’s: Acts, Acts, Acts.

The early bird catches the beat: Spilif is our current FM4 Soundpark Act of the Month for October. She was a guest on the Morning Show and talks to us about the early days of her rap career: She was at the FM4 protest song contest finals ten years ago with her former band Tiefsee Taucher. Her solo project “developed like that,” she says in the interview; according to her, it “wasn’t such a conscious decision.”

Their set for Soundpark Day provides the perfect Sunday morning mood with a twist fuck it all: “Instead of standing still, I’d rather fall on my face,” raps Spilif in her song “I quit.” Unlike the last one, the new album was recorded with a live band. First came the instrumental, then the lyrics. They recorded the album in just four days in the studio. In the kitchen of the studio they slept, ate, cooked and just started composing. “Basically, I think the band was able to flow,” says Spilif about their recording days in the studio. Her debut album “Something You Love” is out now.
